What Are Manways?

You must ever heard about manways, also called manholes are the entry doors/gates for the workers of any particular tank, tunnel, factory, or plant to offer easy and safe access to the storage premises or vessel. These manways are mostly present on the intake air-side in any carbonated mines. The main purpose which these gate ways offers is the passage to the labors and staff members. The plates and/or covers of the manholes are fitted to the side corners of the tank and are dragged back against the seal or the exterior projection.

The cover of the manhole must be larger in diameter to that of the vessel to make it operational and efficiently workable. These are made mostly from hard-core stainless steel and sometimes the covers of these are made of clear glass to see the other side as well.

How They Work?

The manholes have a primary security purpose to serve in the premises. they are installed to prevent the leakage of any gas from outside of the tank or any vessel. A manway works with a locking mechanism that vary according to the need and task. Few are pressure manways which are to preserve a certain atmosphere inside the vessel. The opening and closing are held with the help of a giant round lock.

The manway suppliers all around the world are coming up with innovative functions in manholes which has amazed the market. There is a lot to improve in the conventional manholes and we are hoping to see something really different in the coming years.
